Business and Industry Recycling
Data Collection Form

Thank you for coming to this web page to voluntarily provide information on your company’s recycling efforts in 2009 — information that is important to the district to guide our services and planning efforts.

Skip directions and go to data entry form.

Why Do We collect recycling data?

Every Solid Waste District is required to gather recycling and waste diversion data each year within its District.  The District data is summarized (without identifying any business or industry by name) and the summary data is forwarded to the Ohio EPA were it is merged with data from all over the State of Ohio.  This data is used plan future programs and support services to increase recycling and waste diversion.

Using This Electronic Data Form

We have streamlined the data collection process to be easier on you and yet meaningful to the District.  Completing the form may only take a few minutes if your recycling data is already complete.  In most instances only a few of the questions will be applicable to your business and all questions have the default answer of “not applicable”.   If your recycling data is incomplete or only an approximation, please provide what you have and allow us to apply formulas to translate your data into tonnages.

Directions for Recycling Questions

Each question focuses on a different type of material that is recycled in Ohio.  After each question there are two answer choices:

  1. ( ) Not applicable — ‘Not applicable’ is the default answer to every question.  If the question does not apply, skip it and go to the next question.
  1. ( ) Yes — Choose this answer if you recycle the material AND provide the basic information on the amount of this material recycled in 2009 by weight or volume.

Not Sure About Weights or Volumes?  If you are uncertain about weights or volumes, describe how you recycle and let us do the calculating and math.

For instance, if you recycled cardboard, you could describe it as follows:  We recycle corrugated cardboard using a 4 yard dumpster that is emptied once a week and the dumpster is typically full.

We can do the math.

Or perhaps a few of your employees recycle aluminum cans and plastic bottles out of the lunchroom and they know that they took 500 lbs. of mixed cans and bottles to a recycler in 2009; report that amount.

There are 22 questions below.  Typically a business may only deal with 5 or 6 and the remaining answers will be “not applicable”.

Mentally precede each question with the statement: “In 2009 our companied recycled …”
