008  The Logan County Solid Waste Management District added its 16th Recycling Center to serve the residents and visitors to  the north side of Indian Lake.  The site opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Earth Day, April 22, 2014.   This Recycling Center is a full time, full service center and is the result of a collaboration between Indian Lake State Park and the Solid Waste District. This is the second Recycling Center to open on State Park property.

Pictured at the ribbon cutting is Angel Payne, Interim Coordinator for the District with the scissors with Indian Lake Development Committee Chair David Leiter to her left along with Logan County Commissioner Dustin Wickersham.  To the right are George Sholtis, Indian Lake State Park Manager, and Frank Gianola representing the Indian Lake Chamber of Commerce.

The Recycling Center is located adjacent to the Indian Lake State Campground entrance and was built on the site of a former environmental education center which was moved to new quarters inside the Campground.  Entrance to the Recycling Center is on St. Rt. 235.   The Solid Waste District searched for an ideal location for a Recycling Center on the north side of Indian Lake because the other three Recycling Centers around the lake are the always busy, especially during the summer months. This addition to the fleet of full time Recycling Centers will serve the growing population around the Lake and possible reduce the pressure on the Lakeview Recycling Center.  This Recycling Center, like all the others, will offer free recycling of cardboard, paper, household containers such as aluminum cans, glass bottles and in addition provide a place to dispose of household trash with the use of Green PAYT trash bags which are sold on the site from a vending machine and sold in local stores.
