The Seasons, Bottle Cap Mural

Students at the Benjamin Logan Middle School, funded by a Teacher Grant from the Logan County Solid Waste Management District, created a permanent wall mural for the school commons out of bottle caps.      Art teacher Mrs. Jennifer Davis brought professional artist Michelle Stitzlein who creates and helps others create sculptures from recycled materials.  Together the consultant, teacher, and art students designed an eight foot by 12 foot mural depicting the four seasons in one mural.

Art Club members created a design with a central tree with the four season surrounding the tree.  Middle school students collected bottle caps of every conceivable type from many sources.  Plywood was donated by Lowes and 10,000 screws donated by Ohio Lumber.   Eventually every student in the school was about to screw several of the approximately 10,000 bottle caps onto the plywood backing.
