Logan County Youth Receive Scholarships

In 2009 the $500 KLCB scholarship was awarded to James Patrick, son of Robert and Bonna Patrick. James attended Bellefontaine High School and his academic record, his interest in the environment and essay brought him this reward. KLCB is an organization composed of environmental engineers working in local industries, civic and governmental leaders concerned about environmental issues, and numerous professionals who work in environmental specialties. Providing this annual scholarship is an important contribution to Logan County to attract talented strudents to consider entering some aspect of environmental studies. Refreshments for the evening were provided by Honda Transmission Manufacturing, members of KLCB.
The Logan County Commissioners along with the Logan County Solid Waste Management
District also provide one scholarship to a diserving Logan County graduating senior headed to college; someone with a track record of involvement with environmental studies or environmental activities. The $2000 scholarship, renewable for four years of undergraduate study, was awarded to Mara Hemmer of Indian Lake High School. Mara is the daughter of proud parents Mark and Kim Hemmer. Mara’s outstanding academic and leadership record in school and the community brought her to the attention of the selection committee of the Logan County Educational Foundation for this scholarship.
