SWD Staff members talked with dozens of visitors to the 2009 Home & Leisure Show held March 27, 28, & 29 in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Our purpose was to answer questions and provide information on recycling, zero waste, adopt-a-road, the Spring Road Cleanup program in April and May, the Clean-Sweep of the Great Miami River in July, and construction of new, full-time, recycling centers throughout the county planned for 2009. Many ardent recycling enthusiasts visited as well as people who just moved to Logan County. In the photo Attorney Bridget Hawkins, supporting Boy Scouts, Dr. Faylor, and Bobbi Shields visit with SWD Coordinator Alan Hale at the SWD booth. The topic on most folks minds was when and where the District will accept Household Hazardous Waste such as home pesticides as well as other items difficult to dispose of properly, such as televisions, computers, tires, and used oil. The District handed out several hundred flyers on the new CHaRM facility at 407 Carter Ave. in Bellefontaine. CHaRM stands for Center for Hard to Recycle Materials. CHaRM will open on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. The CHaRM flyer is available at the facility and many other locations around the county. Full information is on this website.
