Over 200 of Bellefontaine Western Intermediate 5th graders participated in an environmental musical “Update: Earth” on March 19. Teacher Janet Fulton and many of the Western Intermediate staff helped with the production. The songs focused on the theme “Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!” with energy conservation, global warming, and recycling integrated into the theme.

The performance was at the Bellefontaine High School auditorium to an over-flow, and appreciative audience of parents and friends. Jere Daniels and crew of the Bellefontaine High School television program taped the show for later showing on the public access channel, WBCS. Each child wore a bright green t-shirt designed for the occasion featuring a new energy efficient light bulb and the words, “Western Intermediate 5th graders are doing their part”. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle was printed on the back with each child sporting dozens of signatures of classmates from the production. Funding for the production was provided by the Western PTO and the Logan County Solid Waste District.
